INTERNATIONAL PANORAMA

The charismatic musician and composer Warren Ellis—renowned for his work with Nick Cave and The Dirty Three—opens the doors to his inner world. With his inseparable violin, shirt unbuttoned, and grey beard flowing in the wind, he carries us back to an Australian childhood shaped by his father’s guitar, retraces more than three decades of music-making, and reveals another side of himself: as co-founder of a sanctuary in Sumatra where trafficked and mistreated animals are given a second chance at life. Directed by Justin Kurzel—author of stark psychological dramas such as Snowtown and Nitram—this intimate, finely tuned portrait captures a free spirit, equally at home on stage as in the depths of the tropical forest.

Cast: Warren Ellis, Femke den Haas, John Ellis, Diane Ellis.
