In-Edit Brasil Celebrates Its 17th Edition

We welcome June with a new edition of In-Edit Brasil, backed by a rich history of perspectives on characters, movements, and secret histories of music documentary film.

From June 11 to 22, 2025, audiences will enjoy a program featuring films about film composer John Williams (with interviews with Steven Spielberg and George Lucas); the activism of John Lennon and Yoko Ono and the months leading up to their 1972 benefit concert; a profile of Jackie Shane, a Black trans woman who emerged in the rhythm and blues scene in the 1960s; a chaotic and irreverent portrait of the Butthole Surfers; and the raw energy of the legendary band Fugazi’s concerts, captured by the fans themselves.

Other highlights this year include Pauline Black, singer of the band The Selecter and a prominent voice in the fight against racism and sexism. We’ll also learn more about the work of Dory Previn, Googoosh, Peaches, and Kandyman.

The collaboration with the Instituto Cervantes presents a special selection of documentaries from the Spanish music scene dedicated to Mario Pacheco and the Nuevos Medios label, the story of Xavier Cugat in Hollywood, flamenco dancers Fernanda and Bernarda, and the deaf dancer La Singla, one of the greatest in the genre.

Audiences continue to fill the theaters these weeks to enjoy musical sessions and documentaries about iconic figures and talents from the country such as Júpiter Maçã, Cachorro Grande, Baden and Vinicius, Maria Alcina, Toquinho, Cazuza, Leci Brandão, Letieres Leite, Julio Reny, Aldo Bueno, Hyldon, Ave Sangria, and Azulão.
