Ben Bassauer is the head of acquisitions and sales at Monoduo Films, which he founded in 2011. He is an alumnus of Bard College in New York, where he studied Film and Electronic Arts and went on to work for Magnolia Pictures as an acquisitions assistant. Upon returning to Germany, he worked at the European film market at the Berlin Film Festival before setting up his own company. Through Monoduo Films, one of the largest documentary distribution companies in existence, he distributes the genre throughout Europe and America, playing a major role in the programming of the world's major film festivals.
He has collaborated in multiple fiction and non-fiction short films, as well as in several documentaries as producer, scriptwriter, director, photographer and editor. From 2010 to 2019 he worked at La Maroma Producciones, where he made series, unitarios and feature films for different institutions and television stations. He was coordinator of the DocsForum training component of the DocsMX festival, as well as programmer of the same festival for 10 years. He is currently Director of Programming and General Coordinator of DocuLab at FICG.
Originally from Wales, Jim Kolmar is a Film Programmer and writer who curated features for South by Southwest Film Festival (SXSW) from 2009-2020, where he is currently a consulting programmer. His primary interest is international cinema, with a particular focus on Latin American, Caribbean and Latinx films. He also programs for Festival Internacional de Cine Tulum (FICTU), and was a guest curator for Portland International Film Festival 2021. Jim is a contributing writer for Ambulante Film Festival in Mexico, and has served on juries, panels and committees at events including BAFICI, Berlinale, CPH:DOX, IDFA, New Horizons, and Ventana Sur.
