In-Edit Empordà presents the programming for its third edition

In-Edit Empordà will celebrate a new edition between July 1 and August 19, consolidating its growth within the universe of the Torroella de Montgrí Festival. This year, the event expands its program from 8 to 12 music documentaries and strengthens its commitment to parallel activities, talks, and experiences linked to each screening, turning the Empordà into a meeting point between cinema, music, and thought.

The program features titles dedicated to prominent figures in contemporary music such as Meredith Monk, Paquito D’Rivera, John Cage, and Yuja Wang, offering a proposal that connects major musical stories with unique locations across the region.

One of the key names in this edition will be Dutch filmmaker Frank Scheffer, considered one of the most important figures in contemporary music documentary. The festival will dedicate a special retrospective to him with several screenings, and the director will be present in Torroella to present some of his works and take part in meetings and discussions with the audience. The festival will also feature the presence of filmmakers Gaï Tordjman, Juan Mandelbaum, and Thorsten Schütte.

Among the guests, the participation of Cuban musician Paquito D’Rivera stands out, as he will perform and travel to Empordà to present the documentary Paquito D’Rivera: From Carne y Frijol to Carnegie Hall. In addition, artists such as singer Maria Arnal, pianist Itamar Golan, and clarinetist Kinan Azmeh will take part in concerts and activities linked to the screenings.

As the main new feature, this edition will introduce the first In-Edit Empordà International Award, endowed with €3,000, with the aim of recognizing and promoting creation in the field of music documentary.
