Ramon Tort’s ‘Omega Wants to Dance’ wins the Excellent Award at the l’EIDF in Seoul

The talent promoted by the In-Edit Festival is recognized internationally through the productions of In-Edit Films Omega Wants to Dance and Escogimos muerte, with awards and notable selections at film festivals around the world.

Thanks to the recognition of emerging projects and film productions, the In-Edit Festival and its production company In-Edit Films, in collaboration with CaixaForum+, are celebrating the recognition of the documentary Omega Wants to Dance, which has been selected and awarded at several international festivals.

In Omega Wants to Dance filmmaker Ramon Tort, a film produced by In-Edit Films, with the associated production of CaixaForum+ and the collaboration of Konga Music Agency, explores the relationship between human beings and movement, delving into consciousness from a global perspective. The film has been selected by international festivals, such as the British Portobello Film Festival and the Italian Parma International Music Film Festival, and was recently awarded the Excellent Award in the ARTE Docs selection at the EIDF (EBS International Documentary Festival) in Seoul.

On the other hand, Escogimos muerte directed by Verónica Rodríguez, another In-Edit Films production, has been selected for the Soundscreen Film Festival in Italy and the Cabbagetown Short Film Festival in Canada, as well as the local Miquel Fàbregues Awards and MISFE, the Majadahonda International Social Film Festival. This film recovers an unknown part of Cuban history: the punk community of the 1990s. The documentary portrays the persecution of Cuban punks and how they ended up choosing to self-inoculate themselves with HIV in order to be admitted to government sanatoriums, seeking a space of freedom, refuge and resistance.

This success reaffirms the trajectory of In-Edit Films and the commitment of the In-Edit Festival to promoting talent on a national and international scale in its In-Edit LAB program. This year, the two productions will be added to the official program of the In-Edit Festival, which will take place from October 23 to November 2 in Barcelona.

The successes of these two productions comes at a key moment for the festival, on the eve of a new edition that will once again turn Barcelona into the epicenter of international music documentaries.
