INTERNATIONAL PANORAMA
In 1969, a young promoter in Toronto was struggling to pull off a rock festival that seemed doomed from the start: tickets weren’t selling, veterans like Chuck Berry and Little Richard were allegedly past their prime, and organizational chaos reigned. Against all odds, the madness drew in The Doors, a blazing Alice Cooper, and—miraculously—John Lennon and Yoko Ono, who gave the very first performance of the Plastic Ono Band. With humor and a treasure trove of archival material, footage shot by the legendary D.A. Pennebaker, phone recordings, and delirious animations, the film reconstructs the behind-the-scenes story of a concert that almost never happened, but ultimately changed everything right there and then.
