SOUNDS OF BARCELONA by Moritz

The life and legacy of Tete Montoliu, the greatest jazz pianist Spain produced in the 20th century—an exceptional talent defined by tenacity and a fiercely free spirit. Neither his blindness nor the cultural desert of Franco’s Spain kept him from standing shoulder to shoulder with the world’s great jazzmen. Through unseen archival footage and intimate testimonies, the film explores his musical universe and his deep bond with his hometown, Barcelona: both an emotional refuge and the springboard that launched him to the world stage. A musical and human journey through the memory of a city, an era, and a genius who turned jazz into an act of rebellion and freedom.

Cast: Tete Montoliu, Joan Manuel Serrat, Mayte Martín, Ignasi Terraza, Marco Mezquida, Pilar Morales, Jordi Blesa Montoliu.

Screening:
26 October, 7:15 p.m.
With Anna Solana and Jero Rodríguez, directors of the film, in attendance.
