A beautiful, imaginative tribute to the grand diva of Galician popular music. From migrating to Barcelona to becoming a mass phenomenon, Ana Kiro defied the conventions of her era and won over local festivals and venues across Europe and Latin America by singing in a language that was silenced at the time. With a unique blend of folklore, pop, and Latin rhythms, her cassette tapes became an emotional oasis for the working class, rural communities, and a diaspora shaped by morriña. This ensemble documentary explores the almost religious bond she shared with her audience and, through a rich intergenerational dialogue and fun contemporary reinterpretations of her songs, reveals the light and shadow of a pop icon while celebrating the power of popular song to heal a people’s wounds.
