The life and artistic trajectory of one of the most influential figures in Latin American music, the legendary Ruben Rada. Born in Uruguay in 1943 to a humble family, “El Negro Rada” forged his own path through immense talent and extraordinary charisma, becoming a point of reference for artists like Charly García and Fito Páez. The film explores his pioneering ability to fuse candombe, jazz, and rock (both as a solo artist and, earlier, with groups like El Kinto and Totem), shaping the “candombe beat” that defined the sound of the Río de la Plata region. The documentary portrays both his success on stages around the world and his work in film and television. Following his passing this summer at the age of 83, In-Edit Barcelona hosts the European premiere of this documentary to honor an artist revered across Uruguay, Argentina, and Chile, whose legacy continues to inspire new generations.
