We recover in a splendid restored version this 1995 classic that combines theater, concert performance, and avant-garde cinema to reimagine the sound legacy of Kurt Weill—the German composer who, a century ago, skillfully wedded opera, cabaret, and popular song with sharp social critique. Featuring an absolutely extraordinary cast, the film reinterprets his biting melodies through a contemporary lens, building a living dialogue between past and present, exile and belonging, beauty and decay. The staging fuses expressionist aesthetics with original choreography, creating a dreamlike, poetic experience. Evocative transitions and stylized documentary fragments frame the entire piece within a profound meditation on art and the human condition.
