SOUNDS OF BARCELONA by Moritz
Fernando Ríos Palacio is an elderly yet distinguished gentleman — and an internationally renowned tango legend. Heir to the original style of Carlos Gardel and an early star in Argentina during the 1960s and ’70s, Fernando came to Barcelona in 1973 for a tour that was meant to last only a few weeks. But he ended up staying for life. Now 87, he still takes to the city’s stages with astonishing energy, embodying the living memory of Barcelona as the “third homeland” of tango — without ever forgetting the land he came from.
