A passionate chronicle of the evolution of dancehall in Brooklyn, from its Kingston sound system roots to the global explosion of artists like Shaggy and Sean Paul. A carousel of musicians, producers, selectors, choreographers, and an invaluable arsenal of unreleased VHS tapes evoke the vitality and bombastic energy of the 80s and 90s scene. The Jamaican and Caribbean migrant community built a cultural bridge between Jamaica and New York, pollinating countless styles and leaving an indelible mark on urban culture that continues to inspire new generations.
