With humor, heart and a lot of glitz and glam, the new film of Alison Ellwood (Laurel Canyon, The Go-Go’s) plunges us into the chaos, glitter, and unbreakable bond of one of the most iconic pop quartets of the 1980s, Culture Club. The documentary blends intimate confessions with memories of smash pop-soul-funk hits like “Do You Really Want to Hurt Me?” and “Karma Chameleon”, alongside the conflicts that made their career a true rollercoaster. From Boy George and Jon Moss’s stormy relationship to the destructive force of fame and struggles with addiction, nothing is filtered here — just a grand human tragicomedy behind the legend and the makeup.
