A tribute to one of the most universal Catalan musicians of the 1950s and 60s. Born in Barcelona’s Raval neighborhood with Romani roots, Cofiner cut his teeth as a pianist in local churches, cinemas, and nightclubs before rising to acclaim on stages across the globe—from Switzerland to the Middle East—with his band Cofiner y sus chicos, penning popular hits such as “Me gusta mi novia” and “La Portuguesa”. He seamlessly mastered styles ranging from sardana to flamenco, musical revue, and classical music, yet his vast legacy ultimately fell into unjust oblivion. To rescue his work, his daughter Isabel brings together contemporary musicians to reinterpret her father’s old sheet music, establishing an elegant and deeply sensitive dialogue across generations.
