INTERNATIONAL PANORAMA
A vibrant and well-researched masterclass on the origins of techno in mid-80s Detroit. Years before white DJs took over the spotlight and the EDM big business, it was a group of visionary young Black men who created the futuristic sound that would transform dance music. LGTBIQ+ clubs, Chicago house, Funkadelic, Kraftwerk, the soulful rhythms of the Motown factory, science fiction, and the emerging technology of the Roland 808, 303, and 909 drum machines all converged during an exhilarating era of innovation, local culture, and creative determination that unleashed a global phenomenon.
