INTERNATIONAL PANORAMA

An honest journey through the 40-year history of Kreator, one of the most emblematic bands of the 1980s German thrash metal scene. Authors of genre-defining masterpieces like Pleasure To Kill and Extreme Aggression, Mille Petrozza (singer and guitarist) and Ventor (drummer) recount —in a decidedly un-mythologizing tone— how that high school band, born in the working-class, industrial environment of Essen, has remained both successful and relevant. On tour, in the studio, or walking through a concentration camp, they dismantle clichés (Satanism? Rock’n’roll lifestyle? No, thanks) and present their defiant stance against totalitarianism and the banality of hate, showing metal not only as aggressive music but also as a cathartic reflection on the human condition.

Cast: Mille Petrozza, Jürgen “Ventor” Reil, Frédéric Leclercq, Sami Yli-Sirniö, Scott Ian, Chuck Billy, Gerre, Schmier, Tom Angelripper, Adam Nergal Darski, Phil Demmel, Andy Sneap, Sofia Portanet.
