Lost Angel: The Genius of Judee Sill

Andy Brown, Brian Lindstrom
2022 | USA | 91 min. | English | Subtitled in Catalan

INTERNATIONAL PANORAMA

A beautiful and heartbreaking portrait of a singular 1970s California singer-songwriter whose life swung between personal devastation and dazzling artistic creation. After an adolescence marked by addiction, prostitution, armed robbery, and prison, Judee Sill went from living in her car to appearing on the cover of Rolling Stone in just two years. Through her personal diary, her drawings, and the voices of David Geffen, Linda Ronstadt, Jackson Browne, Graham Nash, lovers, and friends, the film unravels her unique blend of country, gospel, and blues laced with baroque influences, her tragic fate, and a legacy revived by new generations—Fleet Foxes, Big Thief, Weyes Blood—where the search for ecstasy, vertigo, poetry, and spirituality all converge.

Cast: David Crosby, Linda Ronstadt, Jim Pons, David Geffen, Jackson Browne, Natalie Mering, Graham Nash, Shawn Colvin, JD Souther, Adrianne Lenker, Buck Meek, Russ Giguere, Bill Plummer, Denis Del Giudice, Tommy Peltier, Michelle Kort, Camille Parsons, Laura Veirs, Vicki Randle, Jim Bredouw.
