SOUNDS OF BARCELONA by Moritz
A video-collage of the legacy of Víctor Nubla — musician, writer, and countercultural agitator, pioneer of Barcelona’s underground. The documentary traces his singular career, with the experimental band Macromassa — founded in 1976 — at its core: a group of “long-haired punks” from the Gràcia neighborhood, closer to surrealism and industrial music than to the progressive laietà movement. With an irreverent, pataphysical tone, the film moves away from hagiographic portraits to reveal the disruptive spirit of its subject. A cosmic spirit rooted in the Gràcia neighborhood, Nubla wove together literature, music, essays, and a libertarian instinct into a unique universe that continues to pulse beyond his sudden death five years ago.
