The Stones and Brian Jones

Nick Broomfield
2023 | United Kingdom | 93 min

The most comprehensive and revealing documentary about Brian Jones, founder of the Rolling Stones and one of the tragic figures of 1960s rock as a member of the “27 Club.” Featuring abundant interviews with those from his inner circle since childhood, personal correspondence, and a wealth of unseen footage, the director of documentaries like “Kurt & Courtney” and “Marianne & Leonard” unravels the complex personality of Jones—a brilliant, charismatic, rebellious, and talented individual, but also insecure and cynical. The film delves into the triggers of the self-destructive spiral that ultimately relegated him to the shadows of history.

Cast: Brian Jones, Bill Wyman, Keith Richards, Marianne Faithfull, Charlie Watts, Zouzou, Paul Trynka, Michael Lindsay Hogg, Linda Lawrence, Pat Andrews, Melissa North, Dawn Molloy.

This documentary has subtitles for the deaf enabled in one of its sessions.
