Carl Craig and Jean-Cosme Delaloye at In-Edit Festival

Detroit’s techno second wave’s icon will attend to In-Edit Barcelona in order to present his recent documentary directed by Jean-Cosme Delaloye.

On October 28th at 9.15 p.m., the In-Edit Festival will welcome one of the most special guests of this year: DJ, producer, and musician Carl Craig. The artist will land in Barcelona for the Spain’s premiere of his documentary “Desire: The Carl Craig Story,” which explores the career of one of the most influential DJs in the history of techno.

After a filmography focused on social realities and contemporary harshness, Jean-Cosme Delaloye dices into music for the first time and aims to capture a broad sweep of the DJ’s career: from the underground and camaraderie of the early scene to the grandeur of Carnegie Hall in New York and London, the film traces the personal and artistic journey of the “Miles Davis of techno.” Laurent Garnier says that the track “Desire” is the best example of the ability to “make the machines cry” of an artist who—incorporating elements of jazz, industrial music, and the polyrhythms of the printing press where he worked—has shaped a free and emotional vision within the electronic spectrum.

The documentary also features major artists such as the unmistakable Laurent Garnier and the revolutionary DJ Minx (founder of the Women on Wax label), Kenny Larkin, Roni Size, Jon Dixon, Gilles Peterson, Kenny Dixon Jr. (Moodymann), Fabio, Mortiz Von Oswald and James Lavelle.

October 28th session will be opened by DJ Stein, one of the people responsible for Human’s nights at Razzmatazz, with a vinyl selection of the best Detroit techno. The film will also be screened on November 1st at 4:30 p.m.
