The festival will close with Tamra Davis‘s The Best Summer, a documentary that captures firsthand the golden age of nineties alternative rock. Featuring unreleased intimate backstage footage and interviews with Beastie Boys, Sonic Youth, Foo Fighters, Pavement, Rancid, Beck, The Amps, and Bikini Kill, it offers privileged access to a defining moment in music history.
The discovery of this material occurred in January 2025, when Tamra Davis uncovered a box of videotapes while evacuating her home due to the Los Angeles wildfires. She had recorded the footage herself in 1995 during Summersault, a touring alternative rock festival across Australia. From this unreleased archive, Davis has constructed an oral and visual history of that tour, capturing stage-side performances, behind-the-scenes moments, and interviews conducted by Kathleen Hanna with figures such as Kim Gordon and Dave Grohl. Turning into a time capsule three decades later, the documentary preserves and shares moments of youth, friendship, and music starring some of the most influential bands of the era.
