CaixaForum València will host a new stop of In-Edit On Tour — the travelling edition of the Barcelona International Music Documentary Festival — from February 27 to May 22.
After twenty-three years championing music documentaries, In-Edit has established itself as a leading international reference in the genre, with editions in different countries. In-Edit On Tour kicks off this new edition by stopping in València with the best documentaries screened at the festival, before continuing its tour at CaixaForum Madrid.
In-Edit continues to expand its vision of music documentary across the Iberian Peninsula. In collaboration with Fundación “la Caixa”, the programme will take place at CaixaForum València, featuring four titles previously screened at the festival. In addition to film screenings, the cycle will include complementary activities such as talks, concerts and DJ warm-up sessions — an experience that defines the In-Edit universe. The series will be presented by cultural journalist Eduardo Guillot, who served as artistic director of Mostra de València between 2018 and 2024.
Four musical universes
The programme includes El canto de las manos (2025), the directorial debut of María Valverde. The film follows three deaf Venezuelan musicians as they take on the challenge of bringing a Beethoven work to the stage for the first time. The project was developed with the programme El coro de las manos blancas, under the musical direction of Gustavo Dudamel.
The second screening will take place on March 13 with Legacy (2024), directed by Manal Masri. The documentary revisits a little-known chapter in jazz history between 1950 and 1970 through the testimonies of the families of African American musicians who turned Scandinavia into a creative refuge. Artists such as Dexter Gordon and Don Cherry found an environment where they could develop their music with freedom and recognition. The session will include a warm-up set by DJ Laguerradelasgalaxias (Andrés Rojo).
The third screening features Daytime Revolution (2024), directed by Erik Nelson, which revisits the week in 1972 when John Lennon and Yoko Ono co-hosted The Mike Douglas Show. Five consecutive broadcasts became a platform for political, social and cultural debate and helped revolutionise American television.
The final stop will be on May 22 with Los Negativos: graduados en “underground” (2024), directed by Víctor Carrey. More than a conventional band biography, the documentary paints a collective portrait of Los Negativos and the mid-1980s Barcelona mod scene. After the screening, there will be a discussion with Carles Estrada, singer and bassist of the band, and producer Fernando Campillos, followed by a short live performance by original band members.
